Maxine Baker is an emerging indie-folk-country artist whose warm, bubbly energy and raw storytelling set her apart. Blending influences from Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, and Taylor Swift, Maxine delivers heartfelt songs that capture both the simplicity of life’s small joys and the complexity of love and heartbreak. In 2024, Maxine was invited to perform with Sydney-based band Fvneral, joining them for a string of shows across the year, including two standout support slots for Ben Lee.

One at the iconic Manning Bar at UNSW and another at Avalon RSL. This led to an invitation to perform at private function at Ben Lee’s home, where guests included the legendary singer/song writer Gerry Beckley from US band America.

Earlier in her career, Maxine took her music to the U.S., performing at the world-renowned Bluebird Café in Nashville in both 2016 and 2018. What began as a standard open mic night turned into a shared bill with top U.S. country band Rascal Flatts. Around the same time, she released two singles recorded in the U.S., both of which charted in the U.S. Country Top 40 and made appearances on the Australian iTunes music charts.

Her upcoming release "Pick Up Smoking" coincides with the winter solstice in Australia—a symbolic choice that mirrors the emotional weight of the song. As the longest night of the year settles in, the track dives into the darkness of a toxic relationship, with Maxine flipping the script: being with her is more dangerous than the habit itself. It’s edgy, unapologetic, and emotionally raw—her boldest release yet.
